Dr. Papcun was
the team leader
for the award-winning
"Animated
Display of Inferred
Tongue, Lip
and Jaw Movements
During Speech."
With this technology,
an artificial
computational
neural network
infers the positions
of the articulators
and displays
their movements
on a computer
screen. It can
be used to teach
speech articulation
to deaf children,
and the principles
it uses can
be applied to
improving the
accuracy of
computerized
speech recognition.
